Editorial Pieces

This is my first editorial piece. It is an editorial piece from the film of Cleopatra from 1999. I have used a blank page, size of A3 paper to create this editorial piece. The colours that I have used for this article are very simple. I have used a blank page and decided not to change the background colour. As the borders of the small photos I have used the colour that matches some elements of my models dress, which is light blue. I have also decided to use this colour at the top of the first page for the rectangle where I have placed my subheading. I think this colour looks nice as it matched my models dress. On one side I have decided to put a big picture, which I think presents the character of Cleopatra very well. I have left a small border around the photo. I have also used another photo from my photo shoot in studio which I have cut around and placed right at the top of the first page, next to the main heading of my editorial piece. The other three photos have been laid out at the bottom of the first page. I have created a small blue border around them to separate them from each other as I have overlaid them. The layout of the text has also been thought through carefully. I have decided to put the subheading right at the top of the page, instead of the heading, which is right underneath the subheading. We can see which one is which, as the main heading is a lot bigger from the subheading. I have used a special font for the main heading, which is also called a Cleopatra font, and I have used a really big size to make it stand out. The subheading is twice as smaller as the main heading, and I also wanted to use a different font to separate them. The main texts have been separated into few paragraphs, but are all in the same basic font and the same size of 12. We can see the first small paragraph, which is right underneath the main heading, and then two small paragraphs in two columns, right next to each other and another long paragraph along the three small photos at the bottom of the page. I have decided to use the same colour for all of the main text as well as the heading and subheading. I have used black colour. I have also used a black symbol of the eye of horus, which simply means protection and Cleopatra has been using it a lot, therefore I have decided to use it in my article.

This is my second editorial piece from the film of Cleopatra. I have used the size of A3, dividing the page in half with made A4 size. By doing this it is a lot easier for me to layout the photos and text. In this editorial piece I have used mainly black and white colours of text, but also some of them are blue. I have decided to use these colours because they match the colour of my models dress. For this editorial piece I have decided to use six photos from my studio photo shoot. I have laid them out carefully and thoughtfully. I have decided to put four of them, with a portrait format at the top of the page, three of them on one side and the other one on the other page. The other two photos are in a landscape format and have been placed at the bottom of the first page. Half of the picture is in the box and the other half is on the outside of the box. I have also created a small white border around these two photos. The layout of the text is also very simple but effective. I have obviously put the main heading first, at the top. It’s big and bold in the colour of black. For my heading I have used a special Cleopatra font. Underneath the main heading, I have decided to place, a first small paragraph, in a simple font of size 12. This time I have used light blue colour, to make it stand out front the main heading. As we go down the page, we can see that I have placed a big black box with two small paragraphs of white text, with the same simple font also in the size of 12. At the top of black box we can see a little bit bigger writing in blue, which is Cleopatra’s name in Greek. On the next page I have decided to also put the eye of honur, as a background of the bottom half of the page, and overlay the text, two paragraphs, in the same font and size but this time in black colour.

This is my third editorial piece for Cleopatra film, it’s also in a size of A3. For this editorial piece, I have only decided to use black text, and pictures are in colour. I have used five pictures from studio photo shoot in this editorial piece. I have used one photo on the first page, but I have decided to put a shape on it, which meant that it would cover a bit of my photo, but I really like this idea and I think it looks effective. On the next page, I have only used four small photos, and I have placed them between the three paragraphs. I have decided to put the main heading which is ‘’Cleopatra’’ on the second page, but also at the top so that it catches the readers eye. On the first page, I have put two very small paragraphs, about Cleopatra, and covered the rest of the blank page, with word ‘’Cleopatra’’ and then I have changed the opacity of it to 50%. On the next page, I have placed three paragraphs, about the rest of the film.

This is my first editorial piece for my second film that I have chosen to do. This editorial piece is in a size of A3. I have decided to use mainly white colour as a background but also green borders and boxes as well as different kinds of lines to underline the main title. I have only used four pictures in this editorial piece. One, which is placed right under the main title on the first page, and then as we go down the page we can see two others in a border. One of them which is in the shape of circle to match the border around it and the other one is normal landscape format, right next to it. For my fourth photo I have decided to split it into small but long pieces, because I think it looks quite interesting. The layout of the text has also been thought through. I have decided to use small size and very simple font for the main writing, all in the black colour to make it stand out from the light background.  It has all been separated into paragraphs so it’s easier to read. The main title is a lot bigger and also has been written in a completely different font, because I wanted to make it stand out. I have also used a lot of black snowflakes in this editorial piece, as well as a shape of Christmas tree right at the top of the first page next to the title.

This is my second editorial piece for this film. I have also used a blank landscape format page in the size of A3 to create this editorial piece. For this editorial piece, I have decided to mainly use colours like, grey, black, white as well as dark red. I have created few boxes, for the text as well as few lines to decorate the pages. I have only used three pictures. One big one on the first page and two smaller ones on the next page. I have laid them out carefully, matching the outlines of the white box left in the middle of the second page. The layout of the text is also very simple, because I have used small but simple and easy to read font for the main text and separated it into small paragraphs all over the first and second page. I have also used a special font for the main title, and created few small snowflakes all around the editorial piece.
